| The Oakshade area is a
somewhat newer part of Davis. The Oakshade
area can be viewed as two distinct areas, the
Eastern portion of Oakshade, characterized by
large custom homes, and the Western portion,
characterized by moderately sized and priced
homes. Oakshade is an excellent location
for professionals who commute to other cities
for work, as the neighborhood has easy access to
Interstate 80. Oakshade is also quite
close to a newer shopping center, which hosts a
grocery store, an office supplies store, several
restaurants, among several other
businesses. It is also a short drive away
from Play Fields Park, a popular recreation area
with softball diamonds and basketball courts. |

 |
| The
Eastern portion of Oakshade features some spectacular
homes, most exhibiting postmodern Mediterranean-influenced
architecture. Most homes, like the one
above, sit on large lots. |

 |
| The
Eastern portion of Oakshade features
attractive neo-traditional planning
features. Notice the cobblestone
crosswalk. The gravel sidewalks are an
attractive feature that supports avian
species, and creates some natural drainage in
wet weather. |
